Meditation Summer was born in the summer of 2014, as part of the Open House programs at Governors Island. Nili Suhami, a former technology product manager who turned Zen, loved the idea of  bringing meditation to the public. The greatest value is in the actions and reactions people choose as they go about their lives. Perspectives and one's understanding  within the world can be cultivated through the skills of meditative practice.  

 

Meditation Summer looks to introduce a multitude of  paths and some of the scientific evidence to the benefits of meditation. The spiritual nature of the practice is recognized as a facet of all human beings, separate from religion or a specific system of beliefs.


Situated in the heart of a public park, the project integrates meditation into daily life.

Our speakers and teachers volunteer their time and resources. We collaborate with leaders in the field, who share our passion and our mission to present meditation in a casual, open and fun atmosphere that is highly professional and supports public programming.
